Away Luggage Warranty: Quick Guide To File A Claim

Last Updated on July 25, 2023 by Bryan Harper

Do you know that Away products come with a lifetime warranty? Ok, that information is not entirely true, because it’s just the Away luggage that comes with the lifetime warranty. Other Away products have a warranty for a limited time.

With an active policy in place, you can file a warranty claim for a product. The Company will opt to either repair or replace your current product for you.

To get your claim approved, you have to ensure you file the claim the right way.

To file a warranty claim for Away luggage or any of their products, first, send an email to the Company at hello@awaytravel.com. Then package and ship the luggage or accessory back to the Company.

This is the summary of the process. This post explains the process in detail, including other details you need to know about the Away warranty policy.

How Does Away Luggage Warranty Work?

The Away warranty permits you (the customer) to file a claim for damage to your luggage or accessory. The disclaimer is that the damage has to be covered in the warranty policy.

Also, the warranty on Away extends to just the initial purchaser of the product or the first receiver if the item was a gift. That means that you can’t file a claim even if you purchased the item directly from the original purchaser.

In addition, there is a limit on what the warranty covers, even for the lifetime warranty. This part of the warranty will be explained in detail later in this post.

How Long Does Away Warranty Last?

The duration of the warranty period of Away products differs. Some products come with a lifetime warranty, while other products come with one to three years warranty period.

Below is a breakdown of the warranty products and the duration of the warranty period.

Away Luggage Warranty

Away luggage comes with a lifetime limited warranty. This is one of the few brands to offer a lifetime warranty. This means that there is no time limit as to when you can file a warranty claim for your Away luggage.

The warranty is valid for the period it is owned by the original purchaser.

What Does Away Luggage Warranty Cover?

The warranty on an Away luggage covers the following defects:

. Tear on luggage fabric.

. Damaged zippers

. Breaks and cracks on the luggage shell

. Damage on the handle and wheels.

What Is Not Covered In Away Luggage Warranty?

The lifetime warranty on Away luggage does not cover the following:

. Damaged battery (this is covered by a different warranty and not the lifetime warranty).

. Damage caused by the normal use of the luggage. That includes wear and tear, dings, scuffs, stains, and color changes that may result from the extended use of the product. As long as it does not impair the functionality of the luggage.

. A defect caused by neglect, misuse, or abuse of the luggage.

. Damage caused by accident or transport damage or airline handling.

. Damage caused by overexposure of the luggage to water, moisture, solvents, or extreme temperatures.

Away Battery Warranty

All batteries in any Away luggage come with a two-year limited warranty. That means that, within two years from the purchase date, you can file a claim if the battery stops working.

What Does Away Battery Warranty Cover?

There is a limit to what the battery warranty covers. The battery is covered under warranty on the instances where:

. The battery cannot hold a charge

. The battery cannot charge compatible devices.

What Is Not Covered In Away Battery Warranty?

The battery warranty does not cover the following defects or damages:

. Damage in battery functionality, caused by abuse of the battery.

. Damage caused by using the battery in a manner incompatible with its intended use or design.

. Change in the physical appearance of the battery.

. Slow battery charging.

Away Bags And Accessories Warranty

All Away bags and accessories come with a limited one-year warranty. This gives you enough time to file a claim for damages you noticed on your product.

The damage or defect must be one that can be traced to the manufacturing process of the product.

Also, the accessories here include wallets, tag bags, zip pouches, jewelry boxes, and similar products. It does NOT cover accessories like travel scarfs, face masks, travel beanies, and replacement filters.

What Voids The Away Warranty?

Irrespective of the warranty time limit, there are external factors that can still void the warranty on your Away product. The Company won’t approve your claim if any of these factors are in place:

. Warranty claim filed by someone besides the original purchaser of the product. The Away warranty only applies to the first purchaser.

. Filing the warranty claim in any method other than the stipulated method.

. Filing a claim after the warranty period. That is for products with a time limit.

. Claim for a product purchase from an unauthorized retailer.

How To Check If Away Warranty Is Still Active?

If the warranty of your product has a time limit, it is advisable to confirm that the warranty is still active before you file your claim. This doesn’t apply to the luggage since it has a lifetime warranty.

To confirm if the warranty on your Away product is active, check the purchase receipt or invoice for the purchase date. Then calculate the purchase date to the present date to ensure it is within the valid warranty period.
