Do you know that you can file a warranty claim for your Motorcraft battery and get free repairs or a new replacement battery at no cost?
I made the effort to go through the Company’s policy page to check the warranty policy. This post will be simplifying the legal jargon to help anybody that wants to file a warranty claim for a Motorcraft battery.
In a nutshell, all Motorcraft batteries come with a warranty. The warranty period ranges from 12 months to 36 months depending on the battery model.
Continue reading this post to learn all you need to know about filing a claim for your Motorcraft battery. You will learn other details like factors that can void the warranty on a Motorcraft battery to ensure the Company approves your claim.
How Does Motorcraft Battery Warranty Work?
The warranty on the Motorcraft battery is there to confirm the quality of the battery. With the warranty, you can return your current battery for free repairs or replacement. The warranty has to be valid for this to apply.
For a Motorcraft battery warranty to be valid, you have to file the claim within the warranty period. Also, you must be the original owner of the product. Finally, the claim must be one the policy covers.
How Long Is The Motorcraft Battery Warranty?
The duration of the warranty period on your Motorcraft battery will depend on the battery model. Different battery models have different warranty duration. Generally, the duration is from 12 to 36 months. Check below for the breakdown of the warranty duration of different Motorcraft batteries:
BH Commercial: 12 months
BXS (Power Series): 18 months
BXL (Tested Tough Plus): 18 months
BXT (Tested Tough Max): 36 months.
How To Check If Motorcraft Battery Warranty Is Active?
The Company will only approve your warranty claim if you file it within the warranty period. So, you have to confirm the warranty period before filing your claim.
To confirm the warranty period on a Motorcraft battery, simply check the purchase receipt. The purchase receipt does bear the date you bought the product.
Another way to check is via the warranty sticker on the battery. That is the little sticker on top of the battery. The warranty sticker comes with details of the warranty period. Calculate the date you bought the battery from the current date to confirm if it’s still within the warranty period.
What Does Motorcraft Battery Warranty Cover?
In summary, the Motorcraft battery warranty only covers defects that occur during the production process of the battery. That includes both damages in workmanship and materials used in the production. The warranty doesn’t cover any other defect outside those.
What Is Not Covered In Motorcraft Battery Warranty?
The warranty on your Motorcraft battery does not cover the following:
. Defect to any part of the battery (terminals, cover, case) caused by improper installation, neglect, abuse, or freezing.
. Damages caused by the use of the battery in other ways than those recommended in the Motorcraft catalogs.
. Cost of labor for removal and replacement of the battery except for batteries in Mercury/ Ford/ Lincoln dealerships.
. Discharged batteries with no other issue.
What Voids A Motorcraft Battery Warranty Claim?
Other factors void the warranty on your battery. Most people filing a claim make one or more of these mistakes and wonder why their claim was rejected. They include the following:
. Warranty claim for a product purchased from an unauthorized retailer.
. Claim filed after the warranty period.
. Warranty claim filed by anyone besides the original purchaser of the battery.
. Warranty claim on a product that has reached the end of its normal life.
Steps To File A Warranty Claim For Motorcraft Battery?
To file a claim for your Motorcraft battery, return the said battery together with the proof of purchase and warranty sticker to any Ford Authorized Dealership near you. Meet the attendant and request to file a warranty claim for your battery. Make sure you take the supporting documents with you.
What Happens After You File A Claim For Motorcraft Battery?
The Ford Authorized Dealership will first charge the battery to ensure it is not an issue of discharged battery. After that, the attendant will run some tests to determine the defects on the battery, to know if it falls under the defects provided in the warranty policy.
If it’s just a charging issue, the FAD will charge and return your battery with no repairs.
After that, your claim will be approved or rejected depending on the type of defect. If the claim is approved, the dealership will opt to either repair or replace the said battery.
Note that the battery will get a new warranty sticker after the repairs or replacement.
Can You File A Motorcraft Battery Without a Receipt?
As mentioned earlier, you have to show your purchase receipt when filing a claim for a Motorcraft battery. What happens when you don’t have the product receipt?
You can still file a warranty claim, as the warranty sticker on the battery is still in place. The warranty sticker contains the warranty period of the product. With it, the dealership can still approve your warranty claim.
